There are things in this life that the enemy will use to shake our peace, to interrupt our spiritual equilibrium. We don't really see it coming, next thing we know we are flat on our face wondering if anybody got the licence plate number of the truck that hit us. These ‘sucker punches can come from a family near and dear to our heart or sudden unexpected tragedies and leave us desperately searching for that peace of mind we had. Truth is the peace of mind that never went anywhere, we are the ones who left that place of peace. I am not saying we deliberately left it, we simply took our eyes off of what God had us focused on.
The thing that shook your peace may have left you wounded and it feels like the sting won't go away. God sees and feels our pain, he sees the storm of chaos raging around us. Just like with the disciples when they were caught up in the storm, God wants us to remember who is on the boat with us. Fix our thoughts on the things God wants us to focus on and when sudden storms arise we won't be shaken off our feet. Not to say we won't feel pain but that we can ride it out giving our cares to God and letting him show us how to navigate each situation that may arise, even avoid some.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your heart and mind as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
