MORNING COFFEE 2/19/21 Broken Trust

February 18, 2021

Hello family

'“O Israel and Judah, what should I do with you?” asks the Lord . “For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight. I sent my prophets to cut you to pieces— to slaughter you with my words, with judgments as inescapable as light. I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. But like Adam, you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.” Hosea 6:4-7 NLT

“But like Adam, you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.” When I read that it made me sit back and process. God made Adam and Eve, then he breathed life into them, and started a covenant relationship with them. That covenant was broken, God’s trust was betrayed. Reflect back on a time when your trust was broken by someone you trusted and not just trusted but had a deepening intimate relationship with. Think about how it felt to have it all shattered.

That’s how God felt when Adam & Eve disobeyed him. Let’s set disobedience on the side for a second and look at this with a more empathetic eye. A friendship/relationship has unwritten rules, rules that are not on paper but are etched on our hearts. Their purpose is to keep the friendship/relationship healthy and growing so that all parties involved benefit and grow. Yes, God did give a command to Adam and Eve, but it was a command if obeyed would leave us with a totally different reality today.

God had fellowship with Adam and Eve. Each time they walked and talked, he was revealing things to them, sharing his heart with them and they violated the trust God had. It is the same with us when we make a move God didn't tell us to make. It has always been about relationships with God. Adam and Eve broke that covenant they tore the direct access to God. That is why Christ had to come.

However we still deal with the ramifications of that one misstep. We can have direct access to God but we battle our ego, other people's thoughts, theologies and even religion, all of that fights against the messages God wants to pour into us, the ever deepening relationship he wants to have with us. Let us not lean on our own understanding but yield to God in every aspect of our lives so we can see the path that He wants to direct us down.

Much Love & God Bless
