Morning Coffee 1/26/21 Before The BIBLE

January 25, 2021

Hello Family

Every devotion I write has been written from whatever time space and moment God has me in. 95% of the time I don't know what I am going to write until I pray and get my first sip of coffee. This time was different. I felt the Holy Spirit call me to write. I prayed, started the music and took my traditional sip of coffee. I placed my hands to the keyboard and waited, and waited, and waited. “Ok God, you told me to write.” I started to get up and shut down the computer but again the Holy Spirit prompted me to stay and write.

“Before the Bible.” These are the words the Holy Spirit spoke to me. He then played a slideshow of all the great people we read about so often in the bible, especially people in the old testament. Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Noah, Elijah and Elisha. They didn't have the NIV, NLT, KJV, NKJV, ESV, ASV, The Message, The Passion. They didn't have the bible app, they didn’t have a family christian book store stocked with a hundred flavors of bible. 99.9% of all the wonderful tools we have now. So what did they have? They had a relationship with God, a relationship that evolved daily maybe even hourly or up to the minute communication with God.

When David encouraged himself when his own men wanted to kill him after their town was wiped out and families taken. David did not dig into his man purse and pull out an embossed leather wrapped NLT, He dug deep into himself and  of the ongoing relationship He had with God.

We don’t have a clue what kind of conversations David had on the back side of some isolated mountain while he was tending the sheep. You don’t get called, “A man after God’s own heart” just checking in for five minutes a day. David understood who he was and who ordered his footsteps. '“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord : I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Hebrews 10:16 NLT

Yes the sixty six books that make up the bible are the word of God and they are living and active and still cut deep into soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. That won't change, but God wants our bodies at a place where we are so dialed into Him that our shadows heal people when people witness our life. They see a man or woman after God’s own heart.

Much Love & God Bless
