When John The Baptist and Jesus showed up, they definitely ruffled some feathers. First John shows up out in the country, preaching "Repent of your sins and turn to God for the kingdom of Heaven is near," The pharasees and sadducees came to investigate, John discerning by the Holy Spirit the intent of there heart called them out. "'But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to watch him baptize, he denounced them. “You brood of snakes!” he exclaimed. “Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.'" Matthew 3:7-10 NLT
Jesus shook things up even more. The "high priest" had a system set up a system that kept there foot on the neck of the people. The "high priest used the Law to benefit there own ego, now here is this guy named Jesus calling himself the son of God, healing the sick and performing all sorts of miracles. Up until that point the common person had to go through the priest to gain forgiveness.
God shut down the system they built on the Law. He started a reprogramming process that is still active today. Only now it has taken on another system, the organization of the church and God is using COVID to kickstart that change. There are still places in lock down or are going back into lock down. My own church has not had a physical service since March this has shifted how we operate. We still gather virtually on Sundays and Wednesdays, but now instead of focusing on bringing people to church, we are bringing the Church to the people through relationships. We can't get stuck with our traditions that is what messed up the "high priest". God is a dynamic God, we need to have the spiritual eyes and ears to hear and see how He is moving.
Much Love & God bless
