“'The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
Genesis 2:15-17 NLT
Adam and Eve’s actions did not bring sin into to creation, it bough death. I don’t know how long Adam and Eve lived in the garden before they disobeyed God. I do know this the option to go against what God had instructed was there from the very moment God gave His command. Sin is rebellion against God and that took place even before the actions of Adam and Eve.
'“How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’ Instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths.” Isaiah 14:12-15
When the enemy came to Eve in the form of a serpent the option for her and adam to dismiss his tempting lies was available, but they did not resist and they sinned. So with Adam and Eve’s disobedience Death was introduced to all of creation. Look how your body was designed it was never meant for death or to die. It is always regenerating itself, constantly renewing itself. God breathed LIFE into us there is no death in God.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
If no option to disobey God (sin), Adam and Eve would have never listened to the serpent. Because God does not want a bunch of robots who are pre programmed to do what he wants, He gave us free will, He gave us the ability to choose to serve Him or to follow our own thinking. God desires a people who will look at anything that contradicts Him and dismiss it. “'Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.'
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
