We are disciplined in the things we want to be disciplined in.
take a moment let that sink in and marinate for a minute. On January 2nd I grew tired of the disarray that my room was in. Fueled by frustration and the comments of my eleven and seven year old cousins "Brandon your room is always junkie." I forced my self out of bed, grabbed some trash bags and blocked out every distraction until the room was clean and in order.
But doing this frustration fueled massive clean is nothing new. I have attacked my room before only for it to end up in shambles not long after. The key is discipline! Breaking the little lazy habits that build up and make a big mess. It is a conscious 24/7 effort to defeat the smallest of habits that lead to a junkie room. But if i want my room to stay the way it is then these are the things i need to do.
Some areas we are naturally disciplined in. Then there are areas of our life that we "angry clean" only for it to return to its previous state. These are the areas that God wants to work on, and He will let you know that they need working on. But we push it off and come up with lame excuses to give reason why we simply can't do it. The truth is we don't want to go through the discipline to improve that part of our life.
We will only hurt our self in the end if we live a discipline less life. "
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11 NIV
