5 So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. - Acts 12:5 ESV.

Hello family,  We are all intercessors! God will call on us to intercede on someones behalf. Simply put interceding is coming to God in prayer on another persons behalf. Some make prayers of intercession out to be something reserved for elite “super christians” this is not the case. Paul at the beginning and/or end of his letters writes a prayer of intercession for the believers.

A prayer of intercession is not about showing how hard you can pray and how good you make your self look. It is the total opposite. When God calls you to pray on someones behalf, you completely put aside self and allow the holy spirt to speak through you. You may not know what to pray for let the holy spirt guide your words and heart.

Some time you may come to a point where you have no words all you can do is cry and moan. 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. “27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.” - Romans 8:26-27 NLT

Look through the scriptures there are plenty of examples of prayers of intercession. We are all called to intercede. Christ is the ultimate intercessor, He continues to intercede for us. We must follow as the holy spirt leads. So next time your church has intercessory prayer the whole church should be there. It is not some elite exclusive group of “super christians”! God is no respecter of person He will use any one of us any way he chooses.

Much Love & God Bless

  1. What a blessing this post is to me! I read a Christian article last night about this very topic and I felt horrible about myself afterward. It basically said people who have a strong sense of prayer, do the most for God. I fumble with what to say when I pray sometimes, but my heart is in the right place. After reading the article though, I felt like since my prayers aren't as beautiful and elegant that I wasn't doing a lot for God. I believe I was meant to see this, for I know God understands my heart. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
