17 He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak. - Isaiah 59:17 ESV
Hello family, The following scripture Is from when the prophet Isaiah was warning Israel about their sin. The lord saw the lack of justice in the land and how the righteous were pressed for doing good and living right. So He stepped in to make right what was wrong.
Zeal: “a strong feeling of interest and enthusiasm that makes someone very eager or determined to do something” That is the webster’s definition. Charles Spurgeon defines it best, He likens zeal to Fire that consumes a sacrifice to God. In Romans 12 we are instructed to be a living sacrifice. Our lives wont be a living sacrifice if we are not burning with Zeal for God. Another word for Zeal is passion, if we have no passion for something we won't do our best if we do anything at all. If God did not burn with passion for us, He would not have sent His only Son to be the ultimate and final sacrifice for our sins.
In the opening scripture zeal is described as a cloak. When a knight wore a cloak it was worn the outside of the armor covering him/her. When someone has zeal for something you can see it. But godly zeal is not shown in a way that offends, but illuminates the characteristics of God Zeal will build up our faith when we are in the valley. We need Zeal to continually show God’s love when this cold world slaps us in the face. If we lose zeal that love will grow cold and we will become bitter. Family there is so much more to this it cant be fit in one morning coffee. We will continue more tomorrow. encourage you to look up and read THE BEST CLOAK a sermon by Charles Spurgeon, Sermon #832
Much Love & God Bless
