Morning Coffee Revisited: 6/10/15 Where Is Your Focus?

November 21, 2015

“Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33 NLT)

Hello, family, we do not seek God and his kingdom for our own selfish gain. In other words, we don’t go after God because of what he can give us for our own benefit! This is not about us! We gave 100% of our life over to God. So now we must do what he expects of us and not come running to Him afterwards saying “ok God I did what you asked me to do where’s my cookie?” No! We don’t do that! Yes God does bless obedience but that should not be the reason we obey!

God knows every need and want you will ever have. He will provide for all our needs and some of our wants. Don’t treat God like the candy man, He is not a treat machine! Seek God because you need to know Him more because you need His wisdom walk out the path he has called you to! Seek God and his kingdom because you submitted your life to Him! You gave up your plans for His! Where is your focus?

Much Love & God Bless

  1. Thanks for this reminder, Brandon. We Christians soon get things turned around and think we’re doing all this stuff for God. Then we expect God’s reward for all our good deeds. Rather, I want to renew my vision that I’m in His employment, here in this world to serve Him, come what may. And Jesus said “It is required of stewards that a man be found faithful.”

Required is the word that readjusts my thinking. Not just when it suits me, or when I feel like it, or when good things result. I think it’s good for us to read Hebrews Ch 11 often. I see here that the saints of old didn’t get the cookies — sometimes even not the crumbs. They were faithful in seeking Heaven, trusting the reward would be waiting for them there.
