Morning Coffee 5/10/15 With An Awesome Wife Comes Great Responsibility!

May 10, 2015

“For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body.” (James 2:14-17 NLT)

Hello, family, This is for my fellow single brothers especially the younger ones! God has placed me in a unique situation in my church. I am the only single (never been married) male at my church. Now some might see that as a negative. But I see it as a positive because my church is small and close knit I have several windows in which to view married life and from differing stages. From a young couple with no kids married a few years to a couple with kids grown up and moved out of the house. I have at least one hundred years of combined marriage experience that I can glean from.

With an awesome wife comes great responsibility! You say you want a Godly woman with all the bells and whistles! Well, you are going to have to take care of that Godly woman! She will have needs both spiritual and physical you will have to provide for those needs! As the husband, you are the head of the household! God is going to hold you accountable for all that goes on! That Godly woman is going to want a Godly man! How can you lead her and the children if you are not following God!? How can you love her when you don’t even love yourself? How can you take care of her if you can’t take care of yourself! “love your wives, just as Christ loved the church” That means you give up yourself for her! Look at how Christ loved (us!) the church! Wow!

  1. I remember years back, during one marriage ceremony, the pastor officiating chose to read from Proverbs 31. He brought out the fact that to "find a virtuous woman" you have to be a virtuous man.
That remark has stuck with me; it's much like what you are saying here. Another really good post, Brandon.
