A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:10-18 NLT)

Hello, family. The breastplate covers the torso, back and chest of a soldier. It protects all of the vital organs. Why righteousness as the breastplate? God righteousness covers us! When we keep pursuing Him and following his commands we are walking in righteousness. When we sin we have to repent and continue perusing God. God’s righteousness will shield us from harm. When we decide we can provide our own righteousness (we can’t), we will run into trouble. Because our righteousness is nothing more than filthy rags to God. God set a standard for us to follow, that standard will keep us safe. Remember the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15)? When the son decided he was “bad all by himself”, he stepped out from the protection of his father, he forgot all about the standards his father gave him. When he was at his lowest and was beaten only then did he run back to his father.

Why step out of God’s righteousness, why take off the very thing that is helping to keep you from being wiped out! Without God’s righteousness, you are giving the enemy a clean shot at your heart! Pride, dishonesty and a whole bunch of other mess can easily take hold of you, just a look at King Saul! With the breastplate of God’s righteousness, we can block the temptations to go against God, because we know where God wants us. We will be right there with him doing what he wants us to do and not some place over yonder waiting to be sniped out by the enemy!

Much Love & God Bless
