Morning Coffee 3/4/15 No! Favoritism!

March 4, 2015

“My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?” (James 2:1-4 NLT)

Hello family. I am guilty of favoritism. I have not shown true love to some people in my life. They came into my life looking to be welcomed in, but I relegated them to the corner while I fellowshipped with those closer to me. This goes past being rich or looking good. When God brings someone into your life great them with the same love and respect you give those close to you. Reach out to that brother or sister that sits way back in the corner in church. Don’t dismiss them! Sometimes we want people to step out of their comfort zone to come to us when really we are the ones who need to come out of our comfort zone!

We have some homework to do! At your church during meet and greet or after service or on your job at lunch break, let god lead you to a person you don’t normally talk to. Step out of your comfort zone! Don’t block out new people that come into your life. “Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The lord our God is the one and only lord. And you must love the lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 NLT) We cannot do one without the other! You can’t love God and hate you neighbor! That quiet person in the corner is your neighbor!

Much Love God Bless
