Read proverbs chapter 7

”While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path by her house. It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell. The woman approached him, seductively dressed and sly of heart.” (Proverbs 7:6-10 NLT)

Hello family. We are continuing our series on Proverbs chapter seven If you have not read part one go back and read it then come back to this part. The writer takes us into an illustration of how young men are taken down by the lust for the immoral woman (ladies you can pull from this too).

Mistake number one, the young man lacked common sense. God has given us His word, His Commands, His wisdom. We have to take it and apply it! I took Spanish in high school, I did the homework, took the test, and heard the teacher teach the lesson. Ten years later I am no better off than I was before I took Spanish. Some of my classmates can have a full conversation in Spanish. Why? Because they applied and kept applying the knowledge that was given to them.

Apply God’s wisdom to your life!

Mistake number two, the young man went near the House of the immoral woman! Translation! He put himself in a position for failure. Know the areas you are weak in! Don’t leave yourself vulnerable! Don’t be alone in the break room with the cute new co-worker! If he/she flirts with you, don’t flirt back! If temptation hits you the hardest when you alone on the laptop at 11 pm, shut it down at 10 pm. Don’t be alone in your office! Don’t put yourself in a position to fail!

Mistake number three (strike out!) He listened to the temptation! He allowed himself to be seduced. That woman with all the curves in the right spots will take you out because she found your soft spot. He/she may talk sweet, but the end is bitter! Don’t get caught up! God’s instruction is within easy reach! Study and apply it! Listen to the tug of the holy spirit, He is tugging for a reason! Heed the warning don’t go where there is trouble!

Part 3 tomorrow.

Much Love & God Bless

  1. There is another angle yet --one that is maybe covered in Point 2. Something I've been thinking seriously about lately in connection with books and writing.

We live in a society that promotes "no guilt". Novels, TV and movies all show immoral relationships as guiltless. You have an affair and move on. Pain of parting, yes. Guilt, no. Or you carry on immorally with someone with no shame, then get seriously committed and/ or married and you can live happily ever after.

The wise person understands that sin always brings guilt --- and feelings of guilt will blow up a relationship faster than major disagreements. The guilt --- that conviction God sends to a young person's heart "the morning after"--- erodes their self-esteem and makes them feel like trash. It makes me so sad to see our modern novels deceptively portraying otherwise.
