Morning Coffee 1/5/15 From Small Beginnings!

January 5, 2015

“The Spirit of the lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the lord’s favor has come. ” He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently.  Then he began to speak to them.  “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”” (Luke 4:22 NLT)

Hello family! Jesus has read from the scroll in His hometown temple. The people were so amazed because he was laying claim to the scripture spoken by Isaiah the Prophet. And indeed he had fulfilled the scripture. The people could not receive what he said because they knew his background, they knew his earthly father. They saw Jesus grow up! And now the person they see as just the carpenters son is telling them that he has fulfilled the words of Isaiah. They could not grasp the fact that “joseph’s son” is really the messiah.

Your small beginning does not define your God given purpose. So when God moves you beyond the confines of that small beginning, you may find that those nearest and dearest to you are unable to see you beyond your small beginning. And you may want them to be blessed by what God has given you. But they can’t because they only see you as a “Carpenters child”. Do not let this hold you back, keep moving forward just as Jesus did. If they can’t see you beyond your small beginning that is there problem not yours!

You are so much more than your small beginning!

Much Love & God Bless
