“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2 NLT)
“So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16 NLT)
Hello Family If we read through the Bible we will see many passages of scripture that cover the same subject, sometimes within the same book of the bible. Why do we see this? Why did God design the bible, this way? Because we (myself included) are forgetful, I admit there some Sundays I come home and I have forgotten what the sermon at church was about and if I didn’t take any notes I don’t have anything to remind me of the message.
We put repeated reminders on our smart phones, calendars and refrigerators to remind ourselves to do important tasks. Well God wants us to know His word and live it. The more we see or read something the more it is ingrained into our memory. So next time you are reading the bible and you come across a scripture that has a parallel scripture, know that it is not a coincidence. It is set up that way on purpose. Why? Every now, and then we need a reminder.
Much Love & God Bless
