“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.” (Matthew 13:18-19 NIV)
Hello family! We are continuing on in Matthew chapter thirteen, the parable of the sower. I encourage you if you haven’t to go back and read the devotion before this one “Morning Coffee 10/18/14 Seeds!: What’s with the parables?”
The disciples had asked Jesus, why did He speak in parables, and what does the story He just told mean? Jesus begins to break down what each seed situation means. The seed is the is the message of salvation the path is the stone hard heart of the person. They hear and see the message, but as we saw in the previous devotions the spiritual eyes and ears were not open they only received it with their physical senses. ”Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’” (Matthew 13:12:15 NIV)
Family, sometimes our heart is so calloused over from being hurt, unforgiveness, anger, and many other things that we miss out on the life giving word that God wants us to receive. Don’t let your heart be the hard unbroken path that can't receive from God. Don’t allow the enemy to steal that message that was just for you! The enemy wants to keep your heart hardened. So he will try to keep your focus on how bad that person hurt you. He will keep your focus on how you think you have fallen too far for God to save you! If you believe the lies that he spews out, your heart will remain hard and you won't be able receive the life giving word and blessings God has for you.
That’s why some of us are stuck where we are because we won't let God come in heal us! We bristle up at anything that tries to get through the walls of unforgivess, hurt and anger. God will try to pull us out, but because we grew so comfortable in our bitterness, we jerk back from the hand reaching down to lift us up!
Don’t let the hurts, failures or anything keeps you from receiving the love that God has for you!
Much Love & God Bless
