Morning Coffee 9/6/14 Gnaw Your Foot Off And Get Out!!!

September 6, 2014

“So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded. But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.  No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.  One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.  She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, “Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.” (Genesis 39:6-12 NLT)

Sometimes God will elevate us to positions of favor and authority, and waiting in the shadows, is that one temptation that can bring us down. We kick it off, push it to the side, tell it no. But it keeps coming back. And finally one day it catches us alone, with no one else around. The temptation thinks it has you, but you know there is always a way out. A way to resist and stand for Godliness, what do you do? You gnaw your foot off and get out!

Joseph realized the great position he was in, and he did not want to jeopardize it in any way shape or form. He tore out of his clothes to get away from potential downfall. Yes if you read on we see that Potiphar believes his lying wife over Joseph. But God bless Him later on.

Better to be lied on and thrown into prison on false accusations, than to give into that temptation and ruin all that God has blessed you with. Sometimes you got to gnaw your foot off and get out!!!!

Much Love & God Bless
