“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”  (Matthew 5:9 NLT)

“Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.  Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.” (Romans12:17-19 NLT)

If we are going to work for peace it will require us, at times to let things go. We may have to forgive when the person who offended us did not apologize. Working for peace will mean that we may have to temporarily put down some of the things that we enjoy, so that we don’t offend another brother or sister. For example, you invite a fellow brother or sister into your home and they are a recovering alcoholic. But you and your wife like to have a little wine here and there. Your job would be to put away the wine and serve soda or other non alcoholic drinks. You are pursuing peace when you surrender your enjoyments for the conscience of that brother or sister. You are working to keep peace between the two of you.

Those who work for peace don’t stir up gossip. You don’t go and spread false truth about someone.  If confides in you, you don’t share that private conversation with others. Let’s do our best to pursue peace and not cause strife. “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”  (Matthew 5:9 NLT)

Much love & God Bless
