“Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?” Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.” The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?” “No,” he said. Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell face down.” (Numbers 22:28-31 NIV)
There are many times in scripture when God uses an unlikely person or animal to get His point across. Balaam’s donkey is just one of them. He will use unconventional methods to get his work done. This should not be a surprise to us. Because we don’t, serve a conventional God.
In Joshua chapter two, God used a prostitute to shelter Israelite spies while they scouted the city of Jericho. Moses had speech issues, Samson was a womanizer, and Paul was a Pharisee. Gideon battled fear. Peter denied Christ! The list can go on and on. The point is God does not look for the strongest or best looking. He will use whoever or whatever He pleases. We have to remember God does not think like us so do not expect Him to speak or move in the way that you think is best.
Much Love & God Bless
