Morning Coffee 7/21/14 Don’t Be In A Rush!
“Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.” (Luke 15:11-16 NIV)
Yes, this is the story of the prodigal son. Yes, I know you have heard it and read it a thousand times! Put what you know about the story on the back burner for now. And see it from a different point of view.
Normally we would see the child get their inheritance when the father’s life was coming to an end. The father would pass the inheritance on to the children. But here, the younger son comes to his father and ask for his inheritance. The father gives his son his inheritance. And what does the son do with his inheritance? He squanders it. So now there is a famine in the country where he is at. And now he can’t provide for himself. What if he (the son) would have waited longer? What if he would have been more patient? I know this; he would not be in the situation he is now!
God has some great things for us. But at the present time we may not be ready to receive them. The Lord wants us to do some more growing and maturing before we receive our Blessing. So if you haven’t received the things that God said He would give you, take a deep breath and relax. Ask God what things need to change, so we can appreciate and take care of that blessing when He does give it to us. Don’t be in a rush! Have patience! In due time, God will give it to you.
Much Love & God Bless
